As you know, the office re-opened after the COVID shutdown on June 22,2020. We have spent tremendous time, effort, research and money on making the office safe for both patients and staff. Aside from Personal Protective Equipment which creates a barrier between people, we have created a plexiglass barrier at the front desk, curtains at each operatory door to segregate the air, and created patient flow routines to prevent patients from congregating in the reception area. All patients are interviewed about their recent travel, recent contact with other potentially sick individuals, and their own health history.
Patients are advised to call the office upon arrival, and when the room is ready for them, they are individually welcomed into the office, their temperature is taken, and if no fever is detected, they go directly into the operatory.
We have placed hospital grade air filtration machines in each operatory and at the front desk to clean the air not only around patients in treatment areas but also around staff and the public area of the office. Additionally, we "fog" or spray the operatories with a disinfectant that is also used on airplanes, cruise ships, subways and buses as well as hospitals to clean each room before another patient enters.
Fortunately, New York has seen a tremendous drop in new cases, and our risk of transmission is greatly less than earlier. Still, we treat every contact and patient as a transmission risk to create as safe an environment as possible. We welcome you back to the office for your dental care.
Please be patient when scheduling an appointment, as we do have a several month backlog of previous appointments and urgent care to treat first. We will make every effort to accomodate you on a timely basis.
